OMG! This is just an explosion of flavor and deliciousness! I know what you are thinking, “Ground Turkey? Flavor? HA!” I am here to tell you, YAASSSS!!!!! This is a fantastic, filling, flavorful dish. And as of today, it is a staple in my repertoire.
First, you need to either buy or make Ras El Hanout, a Moroccan spice blend. Here is the recipe I found. I didn’t have ground Mace, and I was not going to fight Whole Food for some. To say this spice blend packs flavor is an understatement.
Calories: 384 (with the spaghetti squash) of YUM!
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 oz ground turkey
1.5 teaspoon Ras El Hanout
1 clove garlic crushed
1 tomato diced
1 shallot dice
salt and pepper to taste
1) This is a pretty quick dish, so prep the tomato, shallot, and garlic, first.
2) In a 10-in pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil on high. Start to brown the ground turkey. Season the turkey with salt and pepper. While browning, add the Ras El Hanout. Cook for about 4 minutes. Break up the turkey as you are cooking.
3) Once the turkey is cooked, add the garlic, tomato, and shallot. Cook the tomato until it is soft and the tomato starts to release juices.
I paired this with roasted spaghetti squash, and it was incredible. This will also be good with quinoa, pasta, or couscous.
