It is 5:30 a.m. when the alarm goes off. Hazel squints and grumbles at me. I curse myself for getting up this early, put on my shoes, and head out the door. I go through the gate. Thump, thump, thump. All I hear are my footsteps.
No music. No talking. Just me and my thoughts. During my walks, I solved world problems, figured out how to spend lottery winnings, and planned programs for work, and faced down old demons. It is meditation and exercise all at once. Since re-starting my walks, I am calmer, happier, and feel better.
Slowly, I see my old self. My happier self. This isn’t about physical changes. It is about finding myself, on a trail, early in the morning.
Be kind…especially to yourself.
LLC & Hazel
Breakfast: Coffee with ultra-filtered, non-fat milk, sprouted whole wheat toast and goat cheese.
Lunch: Chicken Empanadas
Dinner: Red Bell Peppers stuffed with ground lamb, quinoa, zucchini, fennel, tomato, and feta cheese and sliced cucumbers. I need to work on the recipe a little, but YUM!
I have to admit, today was some good eats!
